The Seven Teachings and More
Collected by Björk Bjarnardóttir
You will enjoy reading this book which
was written by Björk Bjarnadóttir with the
words of Garry 'Morning Star', Raven. They
worked beautifully together to explore the
history, beliefs and culture of the native
people of Canada 'Anishinaabeg'. It is so
well written you may feel as though you
can hear Garry Raven speak.
The seven teachings spoken of are love,
humility, truth, wisdom, respect, and
courage. The teachers are the eagle,
wolf, Sebi 'the wilderness man', the
turtle, beaver, white buffalo, and bear.
Raymond Raven 'BlackBearMedicine
Man'; Flora Ruck 'High Flying Fast Eagle
Woman'; and Donald Bird 'Naah-Geezhik
Innini' in 'Ojibway' also contributed their
knowledge in this book. To learn more
about these teachings contact an Elder,
watch Anishinaabeg view on channel 9,
or read this book.
