Liturgy of St Knud Lavard - Introduction
33
In addition to these differences, the collects for the day in Ms are those
prescribed for First Vespers in K §§ 1:6 and 9:6 respectively. The lesson
from Liber Sapientiae at both feasts is that prescribed for the Translation
in K § 17:3:2, with the variants 962 sunt autem] autem sunt, 965 illius]
eius, 969 in] super (the first two corresponding inter alia to the six-
teenth-century Clementine Vulgate). The Sequence at the Passion is K’s
text for the Translation, Diem festum veneremur (§ 17:6:2), with the al-
ternative Adest nobis, which undoubtedly means Adest nobis dies alma
for a martyr or confessor. This text, which is fairly widespread in Scan-
dinavian liturgical sources,61 is also given in Ms as the only option for
the Translation of St Knud Lavard. For its occurrence in the Lund missal
see section 4.1.5 below.
4.1.3. The Missale Viburgense62 (LN 186) printed at Liibeck in 1500 by
Steffen Amdes, the master also responsible for Ms and for the Schleswig
breviary discussed in section 4.2.2 below, includes both feasts of St Knud
Lavard in its calendar but has no Mass Proper for the Passion. For the Trans-
lation it provides the following texts (K] Missale Viburgense sig. h Xr):

§ 17:2:2 Collect
§ 17:3:2 Lesson
