tenebre (!)] / ad lumen gratie Ifdios Eue66
(cue in Sanctorale) Preciosa mors sanctorum,
i.e. as K (and MH); but at [514] the sequen-
tionary of the Lund missal gives instead a cross-
reference to Adest nobis dies alma (as Ms)
text not indicated in the Sanctorale, but at
[525] the sequentionary has: Salue martir alme
(as MH)67
Nihil opertum, as K § 17:7:2 (Mass of the
Translation)
Si quis venit ad me (Lc. 14:26-33); from the
Common of One Martyr [460]
In virtute (as MH, Ms)
Gloria et [misprinted in] honore (cf. LU 1137,
Common of One Martyr who was not a bish-
op)
(see remarks below)
Qui vult venire (cf. LU 1138, Common of One
Martyr who was not a bishop)
Magna est gloria (as MH, Ms)
(see remarks below)
Under the Passion feast we find the rubric Secre(ta) et compl(enda) po-
nuntur sub alia col(lecta) in translatione eiusd(em) (as in MH, see
above), but the two prayers in question do not actually appear in the
Translation Mass, which directly after the Communion verse stipulates
cetera de uno martire. The text in the Lund missal seems to be a local re-
66 This stanza seems also to be a (late) migrant from the liturgy of St Knud the King. In
Missale Lundense it appears for a third time at [405], Alleluia verse for the Passion of
Knud the King, July 10 (misprint here: de tenebris for de mortis tenebris in line 5); so also
in MH. Other occurrences are as the antiphon at daily commemorations of this saint in the
Odense breviary, and as the last psalm antiphon at First Vespers of his Passion in the Århus
breviary. When referring to Knud the King the text begins O martir (et) rex or O rex et
martir. Cf. Gertz, Knud den Helliges Martyrhistorie, 104 and VSD 153 (with conjectural
emendations); Steidl, Officium et Missa (n. 60 above), 7*, 17*, 23*. For a copy of the
stanza deriving from the lost collectanea of Thomas Bartholin II see p. 68 below.
67 A copy of this text from the Lund missal is in AM 670 i 4to in Årni Magnusson’s hånd
(KålKatAM II 86, no. 1677).
