A, L, N, R, S, etc.). Also of interest is the reading K 39 mereamur] + per
eum qui venturus e(st) iudicare viuos; this is a characteristic ending of
the collects in A 35. At f. 57ra8-28 there are a chapter, versicle, and col-
lect for the Translation feast with the rubric de sancto Kanuto duce4,
these directly follow the Office for the Nativity of St John the Baptist
(June 24) and precede a collect for the Seven Brothers, Sons of Felicity
(July 10), after which comes the rubric Dauid eodem die (f. 57rb3). Here
we presumably have a reference to St David of Sweden (July 15 or, per-
haps more likely in the context, his Translation on June 25, ‘the same
day’ as his Danish counterpart). The chapter and versicle for St Knud
Lavard are those found in K at Terce of the Translation (edition § 13:2),
with the variants 877 pecunie thesauris] thezauris pecunie, 878 eum]
om. (!). The collect, to which there is no concordance in the rest of my
material, reads: Da nobis quesumus Domine beati Kanuti ducis ac mar-
tiris tui passione (!) gloriari vt eius semper etpatrociniis confidamus et
fidem congrua deuocione sectemur. On the opposite page, f. 56va7-25,
inserted into a space originally left blank before the Office of St John the
Baptist, is the Office of St Alban (June 22) including the Magnificat an-
tiphon Ave martir gloriose for First Vespers; cf. above p. 62 with n. 110.
To the discussion in section 2.3 should be added a reference to the
work of the Danish historian Anne K. G. Kristensen (as n. 53 above,
Exkurs I, here 124-25 with n. 26), where my interpretation of the rela-
tionship between the liturgy, the continuation of the Roskilde Chronicle,
and the short history of the kings of Denmark is anticipated.
