C O M P A N Y N O T E S Company Notes ( People's public and private lives are an integral part of the contemporary art scene today. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the Icelandic artist and writer Thorvaldur Thorsteinssson has investigated the role of the artist, the concept of art and the bound- ary between art and reality. For the present exhibition, I Didn't Do It, Thorvaldur Thorsteinssson approached Icelandair about lending advertising material to explore how the portrayal of Iceland abroad has affected Icelanders' sense of self. He compares travellers' image of Iceland with the image Icelanders have of themselves. Is it the same image and, if so, which came first? When visitors have taken a look at all the material it is up to them to choose the true and false images of Iceland by engaging in a computer survey. Icelandair offices in Germany, France, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Spain, the UK, and in North America were all pleased to take part in his exploration. Don't miss out on this experience at the Reykjavík Art Museum at Hafnarhus, Downtown Reykjavík. I Didn't Do It Private exhibition of Thorvaldur Thorsteinsson Reykjavík Art Museum 11. June - 8.August Icelandair is constantly improving passenger service and simplifying the travel process. With the help of the Amadeus global reservations system, Electronic ticketing at Icelandair has become a reality for pas- sengers travelling to the USA, Iceland, Scandinavia, or the UK, with more destinations to be added soon. “E-ticketing limits paperwork and expedites check-in procedures and processes by ‘saving’ your tick- et on your Icelandair Customer Club card or any credit card... just bring the card with you to the check- in, and with one quick swipe you are on your way. No paper tickets to keep track of, no need to wait for tickets to arrive in the mail. Great for last-minute departures!" says Adrienne Marie Enggist, Icelandair on-line reservations project manager. Enggist ads, "Simply book online and if your itinerary is eligible, you will automatically be given an e-ticket." Telephone bookings retain the option for a paper ticket for these itineraries as well. Since E-ticketing started at Icelandair, the number of passengers choosing to travel this way has steadily increased. Life is too short to take the complicated route.Travel easy with Icelandair E-ticketing on www.icelandair.net. The Icelandair Horse Festival 2004, the world's leading one-breed horse show, was held at Hella , June 28th - July 4th. Held every two years, it is a unique occasion: a cli- max and celebration for the Icelandic horse. More than a thousand years of selec- tive breeding has created a unique breed of Icelandic horse now considered one of the purest breeds of horse on earth. Icelandic horses are very popular in Europe and in North America, with a worldwide population of almost 90,000 horses. Besides the traditional walk, trot and canter, the Icelandic horse performs two extra gaits, the Tolt, and Flying Pace. It was bred to carry Vikings across Iceland and thus has strong and sturdy legs enabling it to carry an adult rider comfortably all day long. The horse’s popularity can also be traced to its friendliness and willingness to please and thus it is fit for the whole family. At the Icelandair Horse Festival, superb Icelandic horses and riders demonstrated their capabilities during a wide variety of competition and show events. Icelandair is proud to be the main sponsor of the festival where the best of Iceland can be experienced on one trip.We encourage travellers to come to Iceland and cel- ebrate the wonders of the Icelandic horse in its own land, whether it’s riding on vol- cano-carved valleys, on the black and white sand beaches of Snaefellsnes or on the Lake Myvatn trail, nominated by the British Sunday Times as one of the world's best trails. Icelandair guarantees that the Icelandair Horse Festival provides experi- ences that will stay with visitors for years to come.
