According to the 2009 Airports Council International service quality passenger survey, Keflavik
International Airport is Europe’s best airport. This summer, the airport was further improved
with the opening of a new and enlarged Duty Free Fashion Shop. In addition to internationally
prestigious brands, including Boss, Lloyd and Burberry, the biggest improvement is in the
Icelandic design section offering leading labels like Farmers Market, Kronkron, Spiral and Ella. And
there is a strong growing trend, not only with foreign travelers, but with Icelanders as well, to opt
for Icelandic design. Having only been available at the Duty Free for three months, Kronkron has
proven an instant success, with its varicolored and pretty range of clothing, shoes and hosiery.
This fall, the brand will even design a pair of shoes to be sold exclusively at the airport. With its
cool and contemporary woolen sweaters and outdoor gear, Farmers Market’s popularity at the
duty free store continues to grow. Ella offers feminine and classic wardrobe staples with a twist,
whereas Spiral has a range of sweaters and accessories popular with women of all ages.
