Children’s books by author and society of Jesus minister Jón sveinsson (1857-1944), commonly known as nonni, have appeared around the world and been translated to more than 30 languages. this is the first biography about him in icelandic. the 540-page long illska, which has received rave reviews, features a love triangle including a neo-nazi and a lithuanian of Jewish descent in present day iceland. the story also takes readers around europe and back to the holocaust and in spite of the morbid topic and dark title is said to be hilarious as well as sad. ESA eye Candy eddas – THe IcelandIc fIlm and TelevIsIon awards Harpa February 16, 2013 the big winner at the 2013 icelandic film and television awards was director Baltasar Kormákur, whose docudrama The deep won 11 eddas, including Best film and Best director. ólafur darri ólafsson (interviewed in ir 0113), who played the leading role of a shipwrecked fisherman, was awarded Best actor. thriller Black’s Game by director óskar Þór axelsson also received numerous nominations and claimed three awards for Best screenplay (óskar Þór axelsson), Best actress in a supporting role (María Birta Bjarnadóttir) and Best actor in a supporting role (damon younger). Best actress was sara dögg Ásgeirsdóttir for her role as an investigative reporter in the crime series pressa 3. the series also won the award for Best fiction program. director Kristín Jóhannesdóttir received the honorary award for her life’s work.
