58 ICELAND REVIEW POOLs left: Selárdalslaug in vopnafjörður, East iceland, was built in 1950. it’s considered to have one of the best views in the country: from the bank of the swimming pool you look directly at one of the most exclusive salmon rivers in iceland, Selá. right: Jónasarlaug at Þelamörk, just north of akureyri, was built in 1946 and renovated five years ago. Too hot for doing laps, its warm water is perfect for a long soak. opposite page: Jarðböðin, or Mývatn Nature Baths, by lake Mývatn in Northeast iceland, will turn ten next year. in 2012, close to 100,000 people took a dip in the 38°C (102°f) hot water, 80 percent of whom were foreign tourists.
