Iceland review - 2014, Side 77
ICELAND REVIEW 75 if i remember correctly, the Japanese photographer’s name was eiji. i met him by accident early one morning at a bakery in downtown Reykjavík. He was having din- ner at seven in the morning. i was eating breakfast. He was carrying a heavy camera bag, professional tripod and wearing a big smile. “i’m very happy. i got my northern lights picture, so now i can die in peace,” he said with a laugh. “For five days and 500 kilometers, i have been trying to see the lights and succeeded at last, just before five this morning, in Þingvellir national Park. “now i have a couple of days to spend seeing iceland in daylight. Where should i go, what should i do?” he asked. drowsy, it took me a while to think. “go to the pools,” was the first thing that came to mind. then my head cleared and i suggested driving north to Lake mývatn, checking out Jarðböðin nature baths and exploring the colors of the Hverarönd geothermal area nearby. From that area, one can even see the glow from the Holuhraun eruption.
