The complex is part of the island’s sports center and gym. Located close to Akureyri, the Þelamörk swimming pool has a children’s wading pool, two hot tubs, a steam bath and waterslide in addition to an 8x25-m swimming pool, which has a temperature of 35°C, probably making it Iceland’s largest hot tub. • • Akureyri Pool Laugar Pool Location: Þingvallastræti, 600 Akureyri Tel: +354 461-4455 Opening hours: May 28-Sep 1: Mon-Fri: 06:45-21:00 Sat-Sun: 08:00-19:30 Winter hours vary Location: Þingeyjarsveit, 650 Laugar Tel: +354 862-3822 Opening hours: Jun 3-Aug 10: 10:00-21:00 Aug 17-May 25: Mon-Thu: 7:30-9:30 & 16:00-21:00, Fri 7:30-9:30, Sat: 14:00-17:00 Sun: closed A water paradise catering to the whole family featuring two swimming pools, two water slides, a splash pool, an indoor pool, four hot tubs, a steam room and sauna. In the summer, a family park with playground equipment is a popular attraction. Surrounded by pristine hillsides, the pool at Laugar is 25-m long with a temperature around 30°C. There are two spacious hot pots, one at 40°C and another around 37°C. There’s also a kids’ wading area and fitness center. • • SPECIAL PROMOTION SWIMMING POOLS Selárdalur Pool Location: Selárdalur, 690 Vopnafjörður Tel: +354 473-1499 Opening hours: Jun 1-Aug 31: 10:00-20:00 Sep 1-May 31: Tue-Fri 10:00-14:00 Sat-Sun: 12:00-16:00 The Selárdalur pool is located on the banks of the Selá river just a short way from Vopnafjörður. The scenic landscape makes for a beautiful bathing experience. The water in the pool is heated by a nearby hot spring. There’s a hot tub, wading pool and large sun deck. •
