36 THE ICELANDIC CANADIAN SUMMER 1963 Thor Erickson displays some of his art. lifelike appearance of a small, black cormorant. Thor has used the shells for the wings. “The bluish white on the inside of the shells looks just like a cormorant’s wings when they are drying out from the sun.” A majestic moose is another favorite with those who have seen the carv- ings.
