GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs, Jon B. Johnson
The fiftieth anniversary of the wed-
ding of Mr. and Mrs. Jon B. Johnson
of Gimli was celebrated at the home
of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. L. Stevens, 32-4th Ave.,
Gimli, on Sunday, May 5th of this
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were married
in Gimli on May 3, 1913. They farmed
very successfully at Birkines, north of
Gimli, for 32 years, and raised a family
of eight children. The oldest son,
Ejorn, died in the service of the Air
Force in 1942. There are 21 grand-
children.
Along with farming, Jon has been
and still is active in the fishing indus-
try on the lakes in Manitoba. A few
years ago the couple sold their farm
and built a handsome home in Gimli,
where they have lived since. Many
friends in the community and outside
it will recall with pleasure many happv
hours spent at the homes of this couple
at Birkines and Gimli.
Jon and Jakobina have given leader-
ship in matters concerning the Luther-
an Church, the Lestrarfelag, and the
LjoSrasknisfelag and have supported
Logberg-Heimskringla generously. We
are sure more will be written for this
paper later on about Mr. and Mrs.
Johnson. Their many friends far and
near, will be wishing them happiness
on the occasion of their Golden wed-
ding.
