Chapter I0DE
The ]6n Sigurdsson Chapter of the
IODE was formed in 1916, and is
celebrating its 78th year. The IODE is)
a national organization of Canadian women
interested in education, good citizenship
and service work. Our chapter has
approximately 20 active members.
Some of our projects: Scholarships,
financial asssistance to crisis centers,
student emergency fund, children's
summer camps, the Peace Gardens, as well
as supporting Loberg-Heimskringia,
Icelandic Canadian Magazine, and the
IcelandicFestival. The Chapter is responsible
for the independence day wreath-laying
and program.
Fund-raising has been through our
whist and bridge evening events in March,
a fall tea in September and special projects.
Individual members have donated their
time and talents in countless ways.
In 1991, the J6n Sigurflsson Chapter
