monthly meetings of the Scandinavian

All knitter’s are welcome to bring whatever
project you’re knitting, especially any
project that you might be having difficulty
with. Knitter’s of all skill levels welcome.
$5.00 fee/per session, in support of L-H.
Nordic Knitter’s is a group interested in
learning about all things to do with knitting
with a special interest in all things Nordic.
Sep to Jun. The group begins at 7 pm under
the watchful eye of instructor Kelly Hinds.
All levels of knitting expertise are welcome.

Toronto, ON: Ólafur Arnalds at Roy
Thomson Hall. Don't miss this opportunity
to see Icelandic composer, musician and
producer Ólafur Arnalds in concert. Ólafur
was in Toronto last June, performing at the
Elgin theatre as part of Luminato and those
of us who were fortunate to get tickets to
that sold out evening, were treated to an
evening of unforgettable music. Using an
algorithm software that he designed, Ólafur
is able to play and control three pianos at
once. He is backed up by a string quartet
and percussion The music that he creates
is beautiful and defies categorization.

Featured speaker will be Terry Fallis on his
participation in the Iceland Writers Retreat
and more about his trip to Iceland.
Terry Fallis grew up in Toronto and earned
an engineering degree from McMaster
University. Drawn to politics at an early age,
he worked for cabinet ministers at Queen's
Park and in Ottawa. His first novel, The Best
Laid Plans, began as a podcast, then was
self-published, won the Stephen Leacock
Medal for Humour, was re-published by
McClelland & Stewart to great reviews,
was crowned the 2011 winner of CBC's
Canada Reads as "the essential Canadian
novel of the decade," and became a CBC
Television series. His next two novels, The
High Road and Up and Down were finalists
for the Leacock Medal, and in 2015,
he won the prize a second time, for his
fourth book, No Relation. A skilled public
speaker, Terry Fallis is also co-founder of
the public relations agency Thornley Fallis.
He lives in Toronto with his wife and two
sons, and blogs at www.terryfallis.com.

New York, NY: Scandinavia House exhibit
– Nordic Impressions: Contemporary Art
from Åland, Denmark, Finland, Greenland,
Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
This new exhibition brings together a wide
array of artistic expressions – paintings,
drawings, photographs, installations, films,
and videos – that reflect the rich diversity
and global character of Nordic art. Curated
by Phillips Collection Chief Curator and
Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Klaus
Ottmann, the exhibition features works by
internationally acclaimed artists such as
Olafur Eliasson, Katrín Sigurdardóttir, Ragnar
Kjartansson, and Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir/
Shoplifter from Iceland; Israeli-born Danish
painter Tal R, Danish artist collaborative
SUPERFLEX, and artists Jesper Just and
Per Kirkeby; Norwegian performance and
video artist Tori Wrånes and photographer
Torbjørn Rødland; Finnish artist Eija-Liisa
Ahtila; Swedish painter Mamma Andersson
and video and mixed-media artist Nathalie
Djurberg; Sámi artists Outi Pieski and
Britta Marakatt-Labba; Greenlandic painter,
photographer, and writer Pia Aarke; and
others. Drawn from a larger survey at
the Phillips Collection in the fall of 2018,
this exhibition comes from the work of
the multi-year Nordic Cultural Initiative, a
collaboration between the Phillips Collection
and the Washington, D.C.-based embassies
of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and
Sweden, launched in 2014 to promote

Cabal of the Westford Knight –
Templars at the Newport Tower

This is the first of 7 books in the
Templars in America series. It introduces
14th century exploration of America by
the vestiges of the Knights Templar,
in the person of Prince Henry Sinclair,
who was Norse on his mother's side
and Scottish on his father's. Attorney
Cameron Thorn is thrust into a bloody
tug-of-war involving secret societies,
treasure hunters and keepers of the
secrets of the Jesus bloodline. Joined
by Amanda, an enchanting British
researcher with secrets of her own, Cam
