Þorrablót in
Arborg
Continued from page 1
agenda was David Gislason’s reciting
of Guttormur Guttormsson’s poem,
“íslendingafljót,” in his own English
translation. He was accompanied on
the piano by Rosalind Vigfusson. Mr.
Gislason’s excellent translation of
“íslendingafljót” will appear in the
Festival issue of Lögherg-
Heimskringla this summer.
Arborg has a women’s quintet
called “Just Harmony” made up of
five musical women who all (but one)
trace their ancestiy to Iceland. They
entertained with a few, rnost interest-
ing numbers, in Icelandic and English,
accompanied by Colleen Kilbrei. A
favourite of mine was “Ég vona að
hann hangi þurr.”
The evening now warmed up to
the music of the 4-D’s band and visit-
ing of family, friends and acquain-
tances. I must say the Arborg
Þorrablót lived up to expectation.
