NOVEMBER 1977 Telephone (204) 247-7798 lcelandic Canadian Club of Toronto THE film “They shouldn’t call Iceland Iceland” will be shown at a Club meeting in Toronto on Tuesday the 15th of November. The Editor of Lógberg-Heimskringla wxll come to the meeting, and speak to the group. The meeting will take place in the North York Com- munity Hall, 5090 Younge Street, Wiílowdale, 1 mile north of Highway 401, and starts at 8 o’cloek p.m. The lcelandic Canadian Club of B.C. Executives for 1977—78 are as follows: President — ítobert Asgeirsson, Více-President — Mrs. Laura Brandson, Secretary — Mrs. Beverly Cornish, Treasurer — Mrs. Nina Jobm, Membership — Mrs. Alda Steele, Assistant Membership — Mrs. Elizabeth Brandson, Social Convenor — Mrs. Linda Asgeirsson, Pubiicity — Mrs. Sandra Robson, Dírectors-At-Large — Larry Brandson, Bill Steele, Gustav Tryggvason. When the meeting was opened to New Busíness, a spir- ited discussion took place — mainly concerning the idea of a Young People’s Icelandic Summer Camp. — This met with promises of support from a number of people and a welcome offer from Jonina Benedikts- dóttur, who ís studying here from Iceland, to teach Icelandic lessions. Club Princes, Karin Savage, then drew the names of the door prize winners and met with good-natured teasing when she drew out her grandmother’s name, Mrs. Clara Savage, as winner of á free membership in our Icelandic Canadian Club and even louder laughter when she drew her own name as winner of a free sub- scription to Lögberg-Heimskringla newspaper. Tne film “They Shouldn’t Call Iceland Iceland” was then shown and met with enthusiastic approval as the best film yet about this fascinating country. A successful evening ended with coffee, refresh- ments and a time for a soeial get-together among those attendmg. Centennial Gimli Lufheran Church Sunday November 6th the Gimli Lutheran Church cele bratet its Centennial. There was a service with the Rev. , Harold Sigmar as preacher, and three other Pastors were in attendance. More than two hundred people came to the service.
