Lögberg-Heimskringla - 08.02.1980, Qupperneq 5
Lögberg-Heimskringla, föstudagur 8. febrúar, 1980 I was taken to see the play Skald-Rosa and enjoyed that very much. I was also in- vited to see a play at the National Theater but did not have time for that. The days were a round of entertaining and feasting. I spent two days in Akranes visiting cousins. Took the ship Akraborg that goes betwen Reykjavik and Akranes. I enjoyed the voyage. It was quite stormy but I am a good sailor. The Akranes theater was putting as possible. The last days in Reykjavik were hectic ones, with last minute shopping and visiting. I had booked my flight back to Winnipeg for Sunday evening March 18th and stayed the last two days in Keflavik seeing relations and friends. The flight back was uneventful with more then half the time spent waiting at the airports. It was a glorious feeling to land in Winnipeg on a beautiful cold and sunny day and being met by my closest families. To try to call back yesterday was not in vain. Although so many~things had changed and I most of all, it was a wonderful feeling to see the country in its winter garb and to discover how warm it was compared to our Canadian climate. It was also delightful to meet the relations and discover how inherited characteristics made us kindred spirits. I am a much richer person for spending these three months in Iceland. But coming back was the richest experience of all. I then realized fully that although I love Iceland and its people, Canada is my home and in Canadian soil I will at last find eternal rest. I want to express my warmest thanks to all the good people that made my stay such a memorable one. I would have liked to mention many, many names but that was not possible and I know that they will all understand. SIIBSCRIBI10 Cnghrrg- Sjrmfikrmgla n, GuÖrún and Hrund on the play ‘‘Godi datinn Svæk” by Jaroslav Hasek and I enjoyed that per- formance very much and my two day stay in the town. There, like everywhere else, every thing was done to make my stay as delightful ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ 1 Broadbent Le People erlake da’s Future ] Elect ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ — ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ 1 ♦ ♦ ♦ ■ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ * ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦# Alowfareand a stoporer in leeland? In this way, the scientists believe, it will be possible to in- crease the export of fresh lamb to the European market. BETTER FISHING — SHRINKAGE IN FARM PRODUCE Even though the total catch in Icelandic waters for I97g exceeded the one for the preceding year, har- vesting on farmlands was exceptionally poor because of the cold temperatures which prevailed throughout the summer. Even though one might think that this competition had created certain problems for Coldwater, Thorsteinsson appears tobe optimistic that in the foreseeable future it will not have any adverse effect.
