Arni Arnason died June
8th, at the age of 72 years,
after a long illness. He was
formerly of Northfield,
Illinois, where he lived for
more than 30 years and
recently of Glenview,
Illinois, both suburbs of
Chicago.
He was the son of
Sigurdur and Gudny Ar-
nason, both deceased and
father of James Arni,
deceased. He is survived by
his widow, Norma (An-
derson) Arnason with whom
he celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary last
summer. Arni is also sur-
vived by two brothers,
Victor and Oscar (Ozzie)
and one sister, Hulda
(Hildie) Arnason.
Arni was born in Arborg,
Manitoba, and started his
career in Winnipeg as a
commercial artist. After
moving to Chicago, he
became a well-known patent
draftsman and had his own
business for more than 30
years.

AFTERNOON TEA
Who says an afternoon
tea is only for the ladies?
Not the Jon Sigurdsson
Chapter IODE who are
planning their fall tea
(notice of date and time
elsewhere in this paper).
They have invited gentlemen
to preside over the tea
tables which will feature
Icelandic delicacies. Also of
interest and a new feature
of the tea, musical en-
tertainment will be provided
by the Meadows Family.
Tom played with a dance
orchestra for many years
and has introduced
daughter Ruth, sons Ralph
and Bruce to this pleasant
activity with most enjoyable
listening results.
Two raffles are being
undertaken by the members.
First, a beautiful Gobelin
bell pull tapestry, hand-
crafted and donated by
member, Mrs. Jona Han-
neson; and second, an
attractive afghan and
cushion cover in fall colors,
handcrafted and donated by
former member, Mrs. V. B.
Baldwinson of Selkirk.
Tickets will be sold at the
Icelandic Festival at Gimli
and at their fall tea.
