So says your Father,
J. Straumfjörð
My late great-grandfather and I have something in common. We both
receive(d) the Heimskringla, now the Lögberg-Heimskringla. It's like a
handshake across time to discover this passage in his letter. It's my living
heritage
Last September 12, I announced a quest — í Víking 100. I encouraged
you to discuss the Lögberg-Heimskringla with your friends, without draw-
ing your sword. Now, I present to you the idea of Christmas and Lögberg-
Heimskringla; a gift received 46 times a year. ensure that Grandparents,
parents, children, grandchildren stay in touch with their heritage. My
children were reading Lögberg-Heimskringla long before I was aware that
they were. Our noble lady has influenced 5 generations in our family.

Letter to the Editor
Dear Jonas:
The members of the Jon Sigurdsson
Chapter IODE greatly appreciate the
article "IODE" written by Einar Ar-
nason, Chairman of the Board of
Logberg-Heimskringla, for the Oc-
tober 25th issue.
Appearing on the eve of our Seven-
tieth Anniversary, March 20th, 1986,
this unsolicited tribute to our historic
record of achievement is very time-
ly. As mentioned in the article,
perhaps the author, Lieut. Col. Einar
Arnason, O.B.E. Royal Canadian
Engineers attended the gala affair at
the Royal Alexandra Hotel sponsored
by the Chapter to honor those who
had served in World War II.
We would like to mention that
although our organization does not
have a large membership (and we
would welcome new members) we
continue our IODE service work
here in Manitoba and elsewhere in
Canada, and, under the name of the
Jon Sigurdsson Chapter, provide
scholarships annually for worthy
students of Icelandic descent.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Kristin Stephensen (Mrs. A), Regent
Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE
