Saturday the 16th, I went to a tombola. It
was fun. I bought tickets that had num-
bers and got prizes. My brother Aiden got
prizes too. Logan got a Panda bear.
There was lots of food. There was pönnu-
kökurs and juice, kleinur, fruitbread and date
squares.
The band, the 4 D’s came and played songs
and we did dances. Me and my friend Angela
did a double spin. Me and my mom did a heel-
toe polka and it was very fun. Me and my Afi
did a schottische. I hád a wonderful time. .

Vínarterta Recipe
(Rosa's favourite) by H. Johnson
1 1/2 C sugar
1 C butter or margarine
3 eggs
1/2 C milk
1 tsp. vanillá
3 tsp. baking powder
flour to stiffen (approx. 4 C)
Filling: Boil 2 Ibs of prunes until soft; cool;
remove stones; add 1/2 C sugar; flavour
with vanilla to taste; whip with beaters.
Mix the above ingredients till dough is
stiffened, but not to hard; divide into
seven equal parts; individually wrap with
waxed paper and refrigerate over night;
when ready to bake, take one ball of dough
out at a time; roll on the bottom of a lightly
floured 9 inch round cake pan; trim edges;
transfer to a cookie sheet (place diagonally
so you can get two on a sheet); bake in a
400° oven (approx. 7 minutes); cookies
should be light in colour with slight tinge of
light brown on the edges; with a spatula
slide on to a wire rack to cool; stack when
cool; spread prune mixture between layers;
just Jeave plain or you can put icing on
now; wrap with waxed paper and foil, and
refrigerate till ready to use; this will soften
the terta and make moist.
