Hjemkomst Festival Seeks lcelanders The Scandinavian Hjem- komst Festival was chosen one of the Top 100 events in North America 1995 by the American Bus Assoc- iation and the North American Motorcoach Association and chosen one of the Top 2 Events in Minnesota 1993-94. We want to present an outstand- ing Icelandic Exposition at our 18th Annual Hjemkomst Festival June 22- 23, 1995 at the Fargo Civic Centre, Fargo, North Dakota. To do this we are asking for assistance in locating the following: • Dancers of Icelandic dances in folk costume. • Musicians playing the old tradi- tional Icelandic music including dance music for the folk dancers. • A person skilled in teaching Icelandic folk dances. • One or more persons to give cook- ing lessons, teaching people to make the delicious foods of Iceland. • Genealogist’s to give lessons and to demonstrate the oldest oral genealogy memorization which Iceland is known for and someone who can recite their ancestry. • Museum quality keepsake items for display, if possible the loan of items from an Icelandic museum. • Demonstrators of handmade Icelandic arts and crafts. • Exhibitors of handmade Icelandic arts and crafts which could include items to sell. • Publicity guide with contacts, addresses and phone numbers. • People who speak the Icelandic language who can assist us with greeting people. • People who will wear Icelandic SCflNDINflVlffN HjEMKOMST FESTIVflL costumes during the two days, Thursday & Friday, June 22-23. • People who could take part in our annual authentic folk costume style show on Friday, June 23, 1995. Perhaps some of you have unusual keepsake items in your homes. We will have some glassed in cases avail- able. Please send us a list of what you are willing to share at our Icelandic Exposition íslands sýning. Please send us names, addresses, phone numbers as soon as possible. We will have The Valkyries Singers coming. The most difficult to find is the dance group. We are so happy to have assis- tance from our Canadian friends and hope many more from the United States and Canada and hopefully from Iceland can be with us.
