Miss Me,
But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love
That once we shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must
take.
And each one must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrow
In doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go.

Iceland’s Nightlngale
(Jónas Hallgrímsson)
by Bragi
He sang to the hills of lceland
The mountains sheer and high
Rising from silvery waters
Whitecapped against the sky
He sang to the raging rivers
The roaring water-falls
Dazzling streams and dancing rapids
Among the lava halls
He sang with the golden plovers
Wagtails and the redwings
Where yet his songs have an echo
His love for nature rings
His love for this pristine country
Nestled by open seas
This rugged volcanic island
With hardly any trees
His songs were to the deep blue
skies
With stars and Northern lights
Flickering over mountain peaks
On sparkling moonlit nights
His harp was replete with sunbeams
Heralding eariy spring
When nature rang with rushing
sounds
And songbirds on a wing
He sang about the Viking days
The glory days of yore
When gallant men came to settle
This Ultima Thule shore
Their elegant and dashing fleet
Exploring unknown shore
Their heart in facing yogis wrath
With help from Tyr and Thor
He sang of their quest for freedom
Their amazing parliament
And down the road the loss of these
Became his main lament
His song became calls to freedom
For people in despair
From the yoke of a foreign crown
That clearly did not care
With freedom won, God bless his
soul
This nightingale of yore
Let gentle breezes play his harp
For now and ever-more.

sunny disposition endeared her to
total strangers, as well as all the
acquaintances she met in her travels,

and shared her reminiscences with
any who wished to learn more about

years of the Icelandic settlements of
Arnes, Gimli, Arborg and Riverton.
She was fiercely proud of her own
background and the contributions
being made by members of the
