lcelandic Soprano Valdine Anderson will be a solo vocalist
with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in a performance
of Mahler’s 8th—“Symphony of a Thousand”—at the
Queen Elizabeth Theatre. This event, celebrating the onset
of the new millennium, will bring together an orchestra of
125 musicians, the largest ever assembled for a perform-
ance in Vancouver.

will be giving a talk and presenting slides after the dinner
and before the dance. Supper begins at 6:00 p.m. at the

the W.R. Caustell Library, 616 McLeod Trail S.E. at 7:00

The Betel Home, 212 Manchester Avenue, will hold its
Annual Fall Tea from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in conjunction with
the “International Year of Older Persons.” there will be
crafts, draws, and home baking.
Páll Stefánsson will present a show of his slides of the
lcelandic countryside following the ICCBC Annual General
Meeting at lceland House, 939-6th St. Páll’s show begins at

turing Gene Walz, author of Cartoon Charlie.
Just a reminder that September 30 is the closing date for
applications to the International Visits program of the
lcelandic National League ... if you are a musician of
lcelandic descent and would like to visit lceland in 2001, get

congregation will celebrate with a pot-luck supper.
