“Germans Would Nov/
Be In Stalingrad II
They’d Had Long-Range:
Bombers”—Gen. Eaker
“If the Germans had had
long-range bombers, the
landings in North Africa, It-
aly and France woujd have
jbeen impossible and the Ger-
mans would be in Moscow
and Stalingrad today,” said
Lt. Gen. Ira Eaker, Com-
mander of the Mediterran-
ean Allied Air Forces last
week. He revealed that, with
the exception of jet-propel-
led craft, all German war
planes in use today are ob-
solescent and even the Ger-
man jet planes have been un-
able to attack successfully U.
S. better fighter types. One of
the biggest mistakes made by
the German High Command,
Gen. Eaker continued, was
its failure to employ a strat-
egic air force.
