News You Can Use
Snow Tires
CORRECTION: Last week, the White
Falcon reported that all cars must have
studded tires. The notice should have
read: According to Icelandic law, snow
tires are authorized for use on all vehi-
cles.beginning Nov. 1. For more informa-
tion call the Provost Marshal’s Office at
7820. Snow tires are not mandatory.
They are a choice.
Chapel of Light
• Pasta Ministries meets next Mon., Nov.
3, at 5 p.m. at Barracks 763. Each two
weeks the location barracks is announced
and if you'd like a great home-cooked
meal, this is the place to be! You can help
cook, serve, or simply "eat and fellow-
ship." You may come to the dinner even if
you live in a different building: join the
group for a good meal and some real shar-

• DoDDs Teachers’ Appreciation
Luncheon is planned for 11:30 a.m. at the
Chapel Annex on Fri., Oct. 31.
• Harvest Fest, Christian alternative to
Halloween festivals, is planned for 5:30
p.m. at the Chapel Annex on Fri., Oct. 31.
Traditionally, hundreds of Keflavik's chil-
dren take part. If you want to help, please
contact Patrick Welter or Chaplain Twist.
• CCD, Sunday School, Pioneer Club:
Pioneers meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8
p.m. at the high school, for children 3-12.
CCD Religious Education is held Sunday
in the high school from 11:15 a.m. - 12:30
p.m. And Sunday School is also in the
high school from 9:45-10:45 a.m., ages 3-
18. Call the Chapel for further informa-

• MCYM Youth Group: Senior High
Students: Monday noon lunches are
back! Grab your appetite and scamper
over to the Chapel on Mondays for lunch
on the house! There is also a full gamut
of Senior and Junior High programs every
week: Among other events, the compan-
ionship, searching, exploring, and gener-
ally having-a-blast on Wednesday
evenings is yours for the taking! Meet at
the Lighthouse (Chapel Annex) every
Wednesday at 7 p.m. "Club" is for great
fun and friendship - whatever your age!
• One Light for singles and unaccompa-
nieds meets every Friday night in the
Chapel Annex for fellowship and a home-
cooked meal. Call the Cables at 4862 or
just show up at the Annex at 7 p.m.
FFSC
• Sexual Assault Victim Intervention
(SAVI) Advocate Training will be held
Oct. 28-30. An interview is required prior
to participation. Call 4401 for more info.
• CONSEP will be held Oct. 27-30 from
8 a.m.-5 p.m. It’s designed to provide
needed information for the mid-career
service member. Training will emphasize
personal excellence, career development,
career planning and personal financial
management. Quotas may be obtained
through your command career counselor
(POC Tim Vohar).
• 10 Steps to a Federal Job will be held
Wed., Nov. 5 from 9-11 a.m. This work-
shop will teach you step by step on how to
obtain a federal job by planning on how to
read vacancy announcements, network-
ing, search for keywords, and writing
effective KSAs (POC Denise Collins).
• Smooth Move will be held Nov. 6 from
9-10:30 a.m. Personnel from Household
Goods/POV and Housing Offices will be
on hand to answer your questions and to
provide you with all the information you
need to make your next PCS or retirement
move a smooth one (POC Tracye Parker).
Wellness Center
• In honor of the Great American
Smoke Out on Nov. 20, the Wellness
Center will have an information booth at
the Viking Mall Nov. 10 from 8 a.m.-4
p.m. Donations will be accepted for the
American Cancer Society and you can
learn how to quit smoking. For more info
call the Wellness Center at 7247.
• The Great American Smokeout 5K
Fun Run/Walk will be held Nov. 22 at 10
a.m. at the Running Track. There will be
free t-shirts and hats for all who partici-
pate. For more information call the

NMC Holiday Greetings

TV! NMC is filming Command Holiday

them to come by your location.
PWD
PWD Transportation "Seabee"
Mechanics will be conducting a free win-
terizing check on privately owned vehi-
cles as a service to our community in
preparation for the winter season. This
will be held on Fri., Oct. 24 from 1 -3 p.m.
No repairs will be done, just inspection
and recommendation what needs to be
done on their vehicles to be roadworthy.
Halloween Party
There will be a children’s Halloween
party Fri., Oct. 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at
the Community Center. There will be
loads of fun for the kids and volunteers

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is holding a
Community First Aid and Safety course
on Sat., Nov. 1 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The
course will be held in FFSC (Bldg 945)
and covers adult, child, and infant CPR as
well as first aid. Course fee is $25 and
needs to be paid prior to course date. To
sign up please call 6255.
Thrift Savings Plan
The Military Thrift Savings Plan open
season is from now until Dec. 31. Call
Tim Vohar at 4401 to schedule TSP train-
ing for your command or department.
Training dates are available until Nov. 15.
Talent Show
The Cultural Awareness Committee is
presenting Talent Show 2003 and is seek-
ing talented individuals and groups for
their upcoming show Nov. 12, at 6 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded for participants in
K-6th grade, 7-12 grade and adult age
groups. Tickets for the show are $5 for
adults, $3 for kids and will go on sale

Cub Scouts

NMCRS
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is
looking for volunteers to work in the
office. Child care during volunteer time
will be paid by the society. You can learn

mailing schedule to make sure you get
