Project Officers Named
For DOD Campaign
The Department of Defense Overseas Lombinea reueral
Campaign now going on here is a grand-slam operation
aimed at the most efficient raising of funds that can be
staged. Twelve National Health Agencies, the American
Red Cross and nine International Service Agencies are
enrolled under the Combined Federal Campaign banner.
From Feb. 15 to March 31, every effort will be made to
gain voluntary participation among military' personnel and
Federal civilian employees here. No dollar goal has been
established, a practice that has been in effect since the
first drive, but because of the urgent need for solid back-
ing of agency programs, military officials hope for greater
per capita giving than last year.
When asked how much a person should give, Naval Sta-
tion Commanding Officer CAPT Ralph W'. Hart said the
best answer is outlined in the fair share giving guide.
“We are often asked that question,” he said. “It isn’t
easy to answer but the guide established figures that are
considered fair to all personnel. Naturally, in the final
analysis, the decision to give and the amount to give are
the sole responsibility of the individual donor. No one
can answer that better than the man himself.”
It is possible to give one sum or to arrange for a payroll
deduction plan that spreads the amount and the time of
giving. It is also possible for the donor to specify the
agencies he wishes to support and the way he wants to
divide his qontribution among them.
This year’s Campaign Chairman is CDR Robert J. Stev-
ens, Supply Officer, U.S. Naval Station; Publicity Project
Officer is W'arren Papin, Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Naval
