More snow, less daylight this month
For the snow enthusiast December should prove quite delightful
what with this month in Iceland averaging 16 inches of snow.
However with the snow, temperatures will fall to near freez
daily and that coupled with a slight increase in mean wind speed fr<
previous months may hamper some _______________________________

Two distant general weather
patterns will prevail in December

of the Greenland High being the
dominant factor affecting Ice-
land's weather.
If the high pressure cell is
intense and positioned over south-
eastern Greenland, the Keflavik
area weather will generally be
fair with crisp, cold days. How-
ever when the Greenland High
weakens and its position shifts
west or north, migratory low
pressure cells move in from the
southwest...these often develop
into major storms.
The prevailing wind direction
will continue out of the north-
northeast and some form of pre-
cipation can be expected on 19 of
the 30 days of this month.
And for those with night life
in their blood, daylight hours
will continue to decrease until
December 21 (the Winter Solstice)
when there will be just slightly
over four hours of sunlight.
