CALLER: If I have a departure
TIA flight, can I check out of my
flight on a transient aircraft
scheduled departure?
• C.A.L.: First letthe Action
Line give you a little background
information on TIA flights. Every
month a member of each command
attends a meeting, submitting a
requirement for the number of
seats his command will need for
PCS personnel. A contract is
then drawn up with TIA, and the
required seats are paid for by
the government. In the event
that a person catches a flight on
a transient aircraft, his seat
becomes vacant and the government
loses the money already paid for
the seat. To answer your ques-
tion, you can check out early, if
there is a valid reason for you
to return to the states a few
days early. If you do not have a
valid reason, you will be required
to depart on the scheduled TIA
flight.
