Scouts sponsor bike clinic A bicycle clinic, sponsored by the Cubs and Webeloes Of Cub Scout Packs 364 and 436, will be held June 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the parking lot of A.T. Mahan High School. This clinic will be held to check the children's bicycles for hazardous conditions. Tools and assistance will be available to ocrrect any minor mechanical faults discovered during the ins- pection . After the bicycles have passed the safety inspection, the chil- dren will demonstrate their driv- ing skills and knowledge on an ob st acle course. Children and their parents are encouraged to perform their own mechanical inspection before the clinic. The following is a list of the items which will be checked dur- ing the clinic: Handlebars, frame, pedals, wheels, bearings^_ chain, brakes, gears, etc. Nurses program needs help Movie prices to rise 67% The admission price for all motion pictures shown on base, Grindavik and Rockville will be raised from 30 to 50 cents, ac- cording to the Base Recreation Office. The price increase is in com- pliance with a message received from the Chief of Naval Personnel and the Navy Motion Picture Ser- vice . The new rate, which will take effect July 1, will .be the first increase since July 1972. Talent Contest An Amateur Talent contest will be held at Andrews Theater July 4. Registrations are now being taken. Deadline is June 28. For more information or to register, contact SSgt Gary Wohllebe, ext. 4184 or Cdr Oyler at 7410. Volunteers make Some NATO Base personnel had a chance to sample Filipino cuisine in a Fiesta held June 13 at the USO Club. The Fiesta was a volunteer- combined effort between the USO Club and the Filipino-American Association of Keflavik. USO and Fil-Am association volunteers serving buffet dinner. The Civilian Nurses Disaster program needs your assistance. There is an active group of Registered Nurses on base who participate in a program to aid the Base Dispensary in being pre- pared to handle a mass casualty situation should the event ever occur. The number of the Registered Nurses here is rapidly falling and more help is desperately needed to fill the vacancies. If you are a Registered Nurse, let them know that you are in the community by calling Rhoda Daley Fiesta a success Included in the menu were "Lumpia" (deep fried finger egg rolls), pork and chicken "Adobe,’1 "Pansit" icanton noodles fixed with at least two different types of meat) and "Kanin" (steamed rice). "Everybody had a wonderful time," Patty Barry, the USO as- sistant Program Director said. She also added that she would like to thank, on behalf of the USO, all the volunteers who made the celebration possible. A dance was held after dinner with the music provided by a live band. Those who were brave enough to try and dance the "Tinikling" had some extra fun. Tinikling is one of the Phil- ippines' most exciting folk dan- ces. The name was derived from a long-legged bird called Tikling. Tne aancers otep in between two long bamboo poles which are clapped together vigorously in time with the music and at an accelerated +empo. T emporary Lodging Allowance explained £ Due to the large influx of personnel during the summer, Col Glendon K. Dunaway, Iceland De- fense Force Chief of Staff, has reiterated the purpose and limi- tations of the Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA). According to Col Dunaway, el^^^ gible persons are normally al^V thorized TLA for a ten day period following the arrival of their families in Iceland. Under cer- tain circumstances this period may be extended, however. For this and other reasons, commands will normally not au- thorize entry approval for depen- dents until it is reasonably cer- tain that housing will be availj^^ ble for them soon after arrive.
