All our retail clerks attended a
customer relations Beminar on June 4
conducted by Mr. Horey from New York.
We are sure this meeting will stimu-
late our employees to be more cheer-
ful and pleasant to our customers.
No good bawd name *having lotion.
E. R. Topp
We admit that the selection of
shaving lotions is limited at present
the ones we sell are all nationally
known brands and good sellers. A
large selection of personal products
including shaving lotions has been
ordered in response to repeated cus-
tomer suggestions.
Clothing store
Plans are underway for a fuller
and better choice of mens,' womens'
and children's clothes. The Navy Ex-
change staff is working very closely
with the central headquarters in New
York to ensure a better response to
your needs.
The Book Shop
Shipments are due to arrive from
all the major publishers in the
United States. A very large selec-
tion of titles will be available.
Customer relations training
Our first line supervisors, night
managers and counter clerks last week
attended a seminar on customer re-
lations given by George Horey, in-
dustrial relations representative
from the Navy Resale System, New
York. The day long seminar was well
received by the employees and we hope
you the customers will receive the
benefit of better informed and better
trained sales clerks. The first line
supervisors will be giving the know-
ledge they received in the seminar
to other sales clerks in an on-going
training program that we hope will
provide you with better service in-
all aspects.
Jewelry boxes
We have just received a wide as-
sortment of jewelry boxes— priced
from $5 to $20. We urge you to stop
in and look over the assortment rang-
ing from small children's boxes to
large boxes made for fine jewelry.
Included in the selection are boxes
made especially for ring storage. An
excellent gift idea for all occa-
sions.
Spanish goods
Sales have been brisk on Spanish
goods that arrived last week. By no
means did the entire shipment arrive.
Still to come are figurines, jewelry,
Ships, and much, much more. So keep
checking in the store. The goods are
expected any time.
Merchandise manager
Mr. Andrew Jerome has resigned as
Merchandise manager in Keflavik due
to health problems. He has been here
two years and has helped many custom-
ers in his time. He and his family
will be settling in Greece, where he
was bom. In the interim, Trausti
Bjornnson will be acting merchandise
manager. The management team of the
Navy Exchange and the patrons wish
Mr. Jerome well in his future endeav-
ors.
Achievement recognition
Mary Underwood, Accounting Super-
visor received a $250 cash award last
week for her superior achievement
throughout the year. The award was
presented by Captain John R. Farrell,
Naval Station commanding officer, and
is a tribute to Mrs. Underwood's ex-
cellence in her job. She has been an
outstanding asset to the Navy Ex-
change management team and we con-
gratulate her on her fine achieve-
ments.
Goods on order
We have just placed a large order
for goods from Scotland and Ireland.
Look for long kilts with matching
hats and Irish linen in the months to
come. We're sure they will make ex-
cellent gifts for Christmas. We are
expecting good customer response for
the merchandise selection.

Have you ever been all set to go on a
trip, and then At the last minute found
out you couldn’t? That's bad, and when
it's because you don't have a passport,
it's super bad. Passports are not re-
quired for military personnel to enter
most countries in Europe. A few non-
NATO countries do require passports.
Passports take time to be issued, so we
recommend to everyone who does not have
one to get it well in advance of a trip.
Even if you think you may not require
one while you're stationed here, it's
easier to have one and end up not using
it, then to be stuck without one.
The first thing you need to get a
passport is either your birth certifi-
cate or an expired passport...nothing
else will do to certify your place and
date of birth. If you do not have ei-
ther of these, contact the passport sec-
tion at IDF for a list of state and
county Offices where you may write to
get a copy of your birth certificate
(usually a one or two dollar fee is re-
quired.) Note: A hospital certificate
of live birth or facsimile c6py of your
birth certificate will not do! Once you
have a copy of your birth certificate,
or an old passport, go to the photo lab
(across from the Marine Barracks) on
Tuesday morning between 8 and 11:00 a.m.
and have a photo made for your passport.
Normally it takes about a week to pro-
cess and develop the photo..the photo
lab will tell you exactly when to come
back to pick it up. When you have the
photo and the birth certificate, buy a
$13.00 money order (passport will not
accept either cash or a check..only a
money order) and take everything over to
the passport office at IDF. They will
give you a form to fill out, then pro-
cess everything and send it to the U.S.
Embassy in Reykjavik. In about two weeks
your passport will come back, and you
can pick it up, for it must be signed in
the presence of the passport office per-
sonnel.
It's really not all that hard or ex-
pensive to get one, but as you can see>
it does take a little time. So get one
now while there is time, and don't be
caught short the next time a trip comes
up that you want to take. And as a
special bonus you get a red, white & blue
bicentennial passport issued only dur-
ing 1976.
Saturday Bus Tours
The Tour Office hopes to have a beau-
tiful booklet out soon on all the Satur-
day tours available, in fact, we hope it
will be ready for distribution this
week. In case it isn't/here's the in-
formation for next Saturday's tour. On
June 19 the bus will depart from the
Viking Building at 9 a.m., go to Selfoss
Skogarfoss and Fljotshlid and returns to
base around 8 p.m. In the morning the
tour bus drives through the southern
lowland section, through Hveragerdi and
Selfoss, and on to the beautiful
Fljotshlid district for a lunch stop.
This area has green meadows, a beautiful
waterfall, and was the setting for the
famous Njal's Saga. After that you con-
tinue past glacial rivers to Eyjafjoll
and then on to Skogar. At Skogar
there's a stop at a summer hotel for re-
freshments , a visit to a folk museum,
and a chance to view the waterfall Sko-
garfoss. After that it*s back to the
base*
