Summer is coming, you can be
sure of that, but it may be awhile
before you will want to pack up
your parka.
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
(Dec. 21, 22 and 23) share the dis-
tinction of being the shortest days
of the year. Each day will be four
hours and 12 minutes long, according
to AG2 John Henry at the Naval
Weather Service Environmental
Detachment.
Sunrise yesterday was at 11:22
a.m. and sunset was at 3:34 p.m.
Sunrise today and tomorrow is at
11:22 a.m. and sunset is at 3:35
p.m.
AE2 Henry stated that we will
start to gain 2-3 minutes every
day beginning on Dec. 24.
Christmas
Take the time to
remember the past
The warmth of the Christmas sea-
son is upon us, as family, friends
and unfamiliar faces share the good
cheer of Christmas.
Christmas always seems to draw
the human race closer together. It
is a time for love, childish laugh-
ter and smiles. The Christmas
spirit seeps into the hearts of
everyone. It is like being in love
for the first time. Our hearts
swell with constant anticipation
and joy.
As a child experiences Christmas
in his innoceitt manner, adults
experience a moment of childhood
themselves. Christmas Lakes us
back to our child-like behavior.
Once the Christmas season arrives,
Deopie let their lifestyles take a
turn. We are concerned with cele-
brating the birth of Jesus Christ,
and so our attention is distracted
from our normal daily activities.
Funny how a brightly decorated
Christmas tree can change the
entire mood of a living room.
Strange how the sight of a Christ-
mas wreath brings a grin to your
face. It is accustomed to our
Christmas nature that we "light up"
as our lighted windows light up
this yearly event.
One humorous detail to Christ-
mas is the anticipation of un-
wrapping all the gifts under the
tree. It seems like children have
more patience when it comes to
unwrapping the presents than
adults have. Just knowing that
your spouse has bought you some-
thing can drive you batty, espe-
cially after seeing it sit under
the tree for a couple of weeks.
Children climb into bed with
anticipation of Santa Claus'
arrival. They try to sleep, but
are so excited that they can't.
Mom and dad wait patiently for
their childrens lirtle eyes to
close so that Santa can come to
visit.
Waking up extra early, the chil-
dren rush to their Christmas tree,
stand in awe, then run to get mam-
ma and daddy out of bed to see
what Santa has brought them.
Yes, Christmas is a memorable
time of year—a favorite to many
of us. Sharing—giving, loving and
celebrating the birth of Christ is
a very tender moment. ’’
Celebrate this Christmas with
many warm wishes, joy, peace and
love. It comes only once a year!
Merry Christmas everyone!
