Holiday hours for tne library will be as follows* Christmas Eve-12:30 - 5 p.m. unristmas Day-CLOSED New Years Eve-12:30 - 5 p.m. New Years Day-CLOSED Starting in January 1979, the StationLibrary will start a "Mending Club." If you have the time and are interested, come by the library and sign in. The purpose of the Mending Club is to help repair damaged books. NavFac Sailor of the A new traffic pattern will be placed into effect at noon, Jan. 2, at the intersection between Housing j<nit 950 (near the Commissary) and the new Community Center. Vehicular traffic coming up the hill from the new housing area, past the Community Center, will have the right-of-way at the intersection at the top of the hill. Vehicular traffic ap- proaching the intersection from the Top of the Rock, or Vrousing unit 960, must yeild the right-of-way at the intersection. Year selected Petty Officer First Class James Donovon has been selected the Naval Facility Keflavik's Sailor of the Quarter and Sailor of the Year. He was selected by a board of chief petty officers. Ocean Systems Technician First Class Donovon is from Quincy, Massachusetts and has been in Keflavik for almost two years. He is assigned to the Training Divi- sion of the Naval Facility and also serves as the NavFac recrea- tion committee treasurer. 0T1 Donovon's name will be submitted to the commander of Oceanographic Systems for consider- ation as Atlantic Sailor of the Year. If selected, he will compete for the CINCLANTFLT Sai- lor of the Year designation. Effective Nov. 30 Official mail standards posted In accordance to OPNAVNOTE 5110, the following letter-mall size standards were effective Nov. 30 for official mail only. Official letter-size mail weigh- ing one ounce or less must meet the following criteria or it will be returned to the sender as unmailable. (1) Must be *£ inch or less in thickness. (2) Must be at least 3*5 inches high and at least 5 inches long. (3) Must be rectangular in shape. (A) Must be at least .007 Inches thick. Official letter-size mail which weighs more than one ounce is not affected by the new size standards, but must not be more than inch thick. At present, the U.S. Postal Ser- vice is studying the impact of the size standards on personal mail and will announce a surcharge rate and effective date sometime in 1979. Petty Officer Second Class James F. Dike, an aviation ASW op- erator, was also frocked, but he was unable to attend the ceremony. Additionally, Chief Petty Officer Jerry L.
