Page 4 The White Falcon February 1, 1980 The USO Theatre Workshop Group Prepares for three one-act plays The USO Theatre Workshop Group, calling themselves the Thalians, are deep in rehearsal for their debut at dinner theatre performances at the Top of the Rock on Friday and Sat- urday nights, Feb. 23 and 24. They will present three one-act plays directed by Jim O'Connor and Pat Lockwood. The trio of plays will open with "If men Played Cards as Women Do," a riotous spoof of a woman's bridge foursome. In this case it's a poker game at the home of John, played by Pete Bell. The poker players, Bob, George and Marc will be played by Bob Ford, Don Washek and Joe Kala- jian respectively. The men exchange gossip, discuss interior decorating recipes, fashions and the servant problem while trying to get through their poker game. The second play, "Coming Through The Rye," is a fantasy by William Saroyan. It concerns a group of people in a celestial waiting room just before they are born. They now know their destiny and receive their earthly instructions from the Voice, who is Rick Gammon. Nine-year old Butch is C.B. Mordan, remembered locally as Tiny Tim in Mr. Scrooge. Jim O'Connor portrays Old Mr. Car- roll;" Steve, who knows his destiny is to commit murder, is played by Joe Kalajian; young Alfred, a troubled teen-ager even before he is born, is David Sault; Don Washek will play Hastings who will be mur- dered by Steve." The roles of Peggy and Miss Quickly are filled by Mary- anne Silvertooth and Patricia Ehlers. The third play, "Infancy," is an outlandish burlesque set in New York's Central Park. A Keystone Cop, played by Don Wasek, makes amourous advances to nursemaid Mil- lie, Maryanne Silvertooth, while Baby Tommy watches. Mike Penick will be Baby Tommy. Enter Mrs. Boker and her Baby Moe, otherwise known as Jim O'Conner and Pete Bell, and the plot takes off into slap- stick as the two babies try to fig- ure out the facts of life. The two performances are for the benefit of the USO expansion fund— and the admission price includes prime rib dinner with wine and per- formance. Tickets will be available at the USO and the Top of the Rock. Cultural happenings Just what is—"What's Happening Off-Base Activities"?
