Mahan Schools have re- cently ended the third nine week grading period. The upper school has established three Honor Rolls for those students who performed with excellence. The following students have main- tained a straight A or 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) for this grading period and are noted as Outstanding Scholars: For Grade 12---Curtis Benham, Gerald Hansen, Kevin McLard, Elise Reeves, Sharon Schoelkopf; For Grade 11---Lisa Keller; For Grade 9 ---Brian Woods; For Grade 8-------Tim Hearne, Tracey Hester; For Grade 7 ---Jim Berg, and Sena Griffin. Rawls NSGA’s Sailor of Year Cryptologic Technician (Mainten- ance) Dwight G. Rawls is the 1980 Naval Security Group Activity Sail- or-of-the-Year. In addition to his duties as the cryptographic and tel- etype repair workcenter supervisor at NSGA, Petty Officer Rawls also provides maintenance support to the ComFairKef and NavFac Special Intel- ligence Communications Centers. He recently received a Letter of Commendation from ComFairKef for his outstanding support of that command. He was also their Sailor-of-the-Year for 1978. He has firmly estab- lished himself as a "head and shoul- ders" sailor who is tops not only in his rating but also as a major con- tributor to the command and to the NATO community. A key person in the NSGA $3 million site consolidation project, which was completed in Sep- tember 1979, Petty Officer Rawls al- so found time to coach a women's softball team to the 1979 base cham- pionship, and he was later selected to coach the women's NATO Base team in the Northern European tournament in Edzell, Scotland. He is presi- dent of the command Acey-Deucey Ass- ociation and was chairman of the NSGA 1980 Birthday Ball held in the Officers Club on April 19. Petty Officer Rawls, his wife Helen, son Matthew, and daughter Myrriah will depart this summer for Pensacola, Fla., where he will be assigned as a Class "A" school in- structor for the CTM rating. Those students with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.9 are noted as Exceptional Scholars: For Grade 12------Brenda Brookins, Charlotte Ericison, Anne Martin, Deeanne Wardman; For Grade 11--David Garrity; For Grade 10----- Todd Estes, Cari Tuxford; For Grade 9---Verena Groh, Brady White; For Grade 8----Terri Estes, Diane La- Croix, Carol Luce, Kris Neri; For Grade 7----Diane Garrity, Rick McKin- ney, Brad Mordan, Lee Smith, and Deanna Walton. The following Honor Roll students maintained a GPA of 3.25 to 3.4: For Grade 12---Michael Scanlon, Ro- bert Vance; For Grade 11-------Tamra Berg, R. T. Porter, Rick Sault; For Grade 10---Holly Frandsen; For Grade 9---Jim Thyden, Lucinda Webster; For Grade 7----Margret Rogers, and Hea- ther Zacha. It’s not too late!
