Keflavik bowling team
Keflavik bowlers dominate
European regional tourney
Eight Keflavik bowlers dominated
the Northern European Regional
Bowling tournament last week, winning
11 of 16 places available.
Both the men and women teams
from Keflavik took first place in
the teams competition.
Kathy Campbell, Mary Eveld, Tammy
Krech and Terry Rich combined to win
the women's team title with a 754
pin edge over their nearest compe-
tition.
Dan Smith, Jim Allen, Fred Urban
and Carl Harden joined together and
took the men's team crown by 214
pins.
Mary Eveld topped all women
bowlers in the three day tourney and
finished first in the singles play.
Eveld also placed well in all events,
finishing in second place. Terry
Rich and Mary Eveld combined to take
first place in doubles play, followed
Kathy Campbell and Tammy Krech in
third place. Rich was the all events
champion. The Keflavik Women bowlers
topped all teams for total pin count
with 10,976.
Dan Smith and Jim Allen were the
top finishers in doubles competition
among the eight teams entered. Fred
Urban and Carl Harden finished
second.
Jim Allen captured t econd place
in the singles play and second place
in the all events category. Fred
Urban was fourth best for all events.
In winning the first and second
places in the doubles competition,
the men had a combined total pin
fall of 4534. The men's total pin
fall overall was 13,169.
Fred Urban had the high game for
men in the tournament with a 247.
Urban's 652 series also earned first
place honors. Dan Smith had a 232
game and a 640 series; Carl Harden a
244 and 623; and Jim Allen connected
for a 238 game and 626 set.
Other teams in the tournament in-
cluded Brawdy, Wales; Wales/Thurso;
Scotland/St. Mawgan and the United
Kingdom.
