6 White Falcon October 2, 1981 News briefs CG Cutter Northwind to visit The United States Coast Guard Cutter Northwind will be visiting Reykjavik October 9-11. An open house for the general public will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. daily. Reservations for special group tours will be taken from 9 to 11 a.m. The exact location of the USCGC Northwind in Reykjavik will be pub- lished in the next issue of The White Falcon. Seat belts now required Due to the new Icelandic Traffic regulation, effective October 1, whoever sits in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with seat belts or shoulder harnesses shall use them. The same regulation applies while driving in parking lots, around gas stations and other similar situa- tions. The use of seat belts and shoul- der harnesses are not required when backing up in a vehicle or while riding in Taxis or other vehicles for hire. The Icelandic Minister of Justice can grant waivers on the use of seat belts and shoulder harnesses for reasons such as health or physical conditions. He may also initiate instructions regarding the use of seat belts and shoulder harnesses in hazardous areas outside of populated cities or towns where there is dan- ger of rock slides and etc. Headlight inspections continue Mandatory headlight inspections for privately owned vehicles will continue at the Navy Exchange Ser- vice Station through October 31. Inspections are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hazardous toy recalled The Navy Exchange announces a potentially hazardous toy called the "Sleepy Bean Bear" has recently been sold in the store. It has been reported that the plastic nose or eyes on some of the bears break off easily and present an ingestion hazard. All persons who have purchased the "Sleepy Bean Bear" are requested to send the item for credit, Freight Collect, to the Knockerbocker Toy Co., Inc., 10 Clearview Road, Edison N.J. 09817, Attn: Customer Service. See 'Dust' Sunday at ToR The Players' production of "Dust" will be presented Sunday at the Top of the Rock. Please buy your tick- ets today at the Top of the Rock. Into the shop Air Forces Iceland’s stationery F-102 is airborne again as workmen remove it from its post for refurbishing.' There is a tentative plan to move the plane to the other side of AFI Headquarters after refurbishing, adding benches, shrubs and walkways around the monument. The Navy's 117 Sky train has also undergone refurbishing, but has not had to be removed from its ' supports. Chapel sponsors ‘Christian Home Seminar’; Nursery to be open during Sunday School and services The Chapel is sponsoring a "Christian Home Seminar", Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lower School. The seminar will be presented by Son Shine Mini- stries of Azle, Texas and will in- clude presentations for adults, youth (grades 7-12), and children (grades 1-6) on God's plan for re- lationships and interaction within the Christian home. Those who plan on attending the seminar are asked to 1) notify the Chaplains' Office of your intention no later than Monday, so the nece- ssary arrangements can be made for the noon meal, which will be fur- nished and the necessary crafts and supplies can be readied for the children's sessions; and 2) prepare themselves for the sessions by read- ing the following Scripture selec- tions: Genesis 1-3; Galatians 5; Ephesians 5-6; Colossians 3; John 1,3; children should read: Exodus 13:17, 15:4; Psalm 106:12, 13; Deuteronomy 8 and I Samuel 15. Beginning Sunday, October 4, the Base Nursery will be open for Protestant Sunday School classes and during the 11 a.m. Service of Wor- ship. The Nursery will be open from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Sunday School classes are offered for all children, beginning age three and adults.) Base Nursery service is also offered by the Protestant, community for a 9:30 a.m. Friday Women's Bible Study, though mothers must make their own reservations for that ser- vice.
