Grace's helping hands
Since 1922 Visiting Nurses have been an im-
portant part of the support that Navy Relief pro-
vides to Navy and Marine Corps communities world-
wide. These nurses, whether Society employees or
volunteers, are licensed registered nurses who
work closely with military medical facilities to
provide home nursing assistance.
The Navy Relief Visiting Nurse on the NATO
Base here in Iceland is Grace Binkley. She spends
most of her time visiting new mothers and their
infants. The arrival of a new family member means
added responsibilities to all sea service parents.
The visiting nurse instructs these new parents in
current child-care techniques,provides home health
education, and acts as a liaison to community
health programs. In the event that further med-
ical attention is required for mother or child,
Binkley's close working relationshipwith the base
hospital staff provides prompt referral and treat-
ment.
Navy Relief Visiting Nurse services are free.
Referrals to Binkley are made by medical officers,
civilian health care providers, local commands,
interested friends or relatives. Coordination of
military and civilian medical care/benefits is a
specialty of the visiting nurse.
To request a visit call 4036. If you have a
need for prompt, sympathetic and professional ser-
vice, please do not hesitate to call.

Largest absentee vote in history
(A message from the Chief of Naval Operations.)
"Voting officials claim this year to be the larg-
est absentee vote in history. This. . .is the re-
sult of the support of commanders and voting re-
presentatives. The plans for our voting program
were carried out in an exceptional manner. Voting
representatives, news releases and articles on
voting all played important roles. I commend you
for your efforts."
