Forty-mile relay race
earns $1,100
for handicapped
A forty-mile relay race was recently ran by
Detachment 14, NAVFAC, Security Police, NavyEOD,
and the Marines to raise money for the Iceland
Defense Force Christmas Fund.
A check for $1,100 was presented to the
Command Chaplain, Capt. Philip Anderson, by Sgt.
Brian Hayes of Det. 14. The Command Chaplain is
the organizer for the IDF Christmas Fund.
The Marines won the relay race and raised the
most money for the event. Starting at the gym each
runner ran 6.2 miles to 1 mile past the aluminium
and back to the gym.
Sgt. Hayes commented that he was extremely
happy with the participation in the race and the
money raised.
