AOl (AW) Allen Thomas, Safety Program Manager for
Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD),
Naval Air Station (NAS), Keflavik, was recently selected
to become a member of the prestigious Blue Angels.
“I think it’s the ultimate squadron in the Navy,” stated
Thomas. “The Blue Angels are a good role model for the
Navy because they promote an image of pride and profes-
sionalism.”
Allen, who was the NAS Senior Military Member of the
Quarter for January through March, said he doesn’t like
being just an average sailor. In everything he does, he
strives to excell. Ever since he saw the Blue Angels in 1985,
while he was stationed in Pensacola, he’s wanted to be a
part of their squadron.
“He’ll do well,” said ATC (AW) Joel Farkas, Quality
Assurance Chief at AIMD “He already has that Blue Angel
type of mentality that’s needed in their high visibility po-

land”, is a compilation of poems and original water-
colors by the artist Ebbert moved to Iceland in
August, 1992, and has feverishly pursued writing

CAAC counselor named Navy’s best
AZC (AW) Kim L. Taylor-Fields,
Counseling and Assistance Center,
(CAAC) was recently named the 1992
Level IINavy Drug and Alcohol Coun-
selor of the Year.
Chief Taylor-Fields, who left the
island last week with her husband
George and son Matthew, is moving
on to the CAAC facility at Naval
Base, Seattle in Wash.
“I was stunned to hear of my selec-
tion, it was quite an honor,” said Tay-
lor-Fields.
She insisted this was the greatest
thing that’s happened to her during her
19 years of active service.
The Aviation Maintenance Admin-
istrationman was picked from candi-
dates Navy-wide, and attributes her
success to her desire to excel and her
motivation to be the best at what she
does.
A native of Fillmore, Utah, she pi;
to continue dedicating more time
her family.
