New height/weight standards released
Adm. Mike Boorda, the Chief of Naval Operations, has
announced new physical readiness standards for Navy personnel.
The highlight of the new standards is the Navy’s switch to a
height/weight screening table rather than body-fat measure-
ments for all personnel.
According to the new standards, personnel exceeding the
above requirements will have their body fat assessed using the
previous standards.
Additional information can be found in NavOp 32/94. The
new height/weight screening table follows:

A new way to cut the grass ... The unavailability of conventional
lawn mowing equipment has left the PWD looking for different
ways to cut grass, such as using hayraking machines. According
to Ens. Nelson Wells, PWD contract manager, parents are
strongly cautioned to keep children away from the hayrakers.
Do not let children play in the rows of raked grass to allow for
easier pick-up by the hayrakers. (Photo by OTA3 Ruth D. Brown)
