Vestmannaeyjar are known for their unique landscape, large bird population, volcanoes and lively culture. The Islands
are located south of the mainland, and the only way to get there is by air or by sea. This location provides a great
opportunity for photography, exploration, and for experiencing island life.

A hike on Heimaklettur, the highest rock formation on
the islands. Its highest peak is no more than 283 meters,
and does not demand arduous climbing, as ladders,
bolted to the rock, have been placed at the most difficult
areas. The view from the top is magnificent, in whichever
direction you prefer to look, whether over the town, the
hills to see sheep and seabirds, or the famous glacier
Eyjafjallajökull on the mainland (or the North Island, as
it is sometimes jokingly referred to by the islanders),
This is a moderately challenging hike, and participants
must have an appropriate level of fitness and be properly
equlpped. The night before departure, parlicipants will
meet their tribe advisor and guide for a briefing on the
hike plan and an inspection of their equipment.
COMMVNin SERVICE
Every participant must complete half a day of community service. If participants wish, they may do half a day more,
but must specify this during programme selection.
