viðkomandi heilsugæslustöðva starfa. General hospitals are divided into two groups: 1. Hospitals supplying limited specialization served by permanent
hospital physicians. 2. Minor hospitals served by the primary-care physicians ofthe associated primary-care centre.
2) Hjúkrunarheimili og hjúkrunardeildir dvalarheimila. Nursing homes and nursing wards in retirement homes. Nursing wards in hospitals with specialized
wards and general hospitals are not included.
3) Ein stofnun er tvítalin. Kristnesspítali kemur fyrir bæði sem hjúkrunarheimili og endurhæfingarstofnun. One institution is counted twice because of its double
role i.e. both as a nursing home and rehabilitation institution.
4) Með sjúklingum (innlögnum) er hér átt við þá sem voru á stofnun í upphafi árs og þá sem komu á árinu. Patients (admissions) refer here to those in institutions
at the beginning ofthe year and those admitted during the year.
5) Legudagar almanaksárið. Bæði komu- og brottfarardagar eru meðtaldir í legudögum. Bed-days during the calendaryear, including day ofadmission andday
of discharge.
6) Ekki er tekið tillit til tímabundinna lokana deilda. Temporary closing down ofwards is not taken into account.
