ty. Recent events have shown that Ger-
many has by no means achieved supre-
macy in the air. On the other hand the
chances of doing so get smaller every day.
If he misses the weather this month they
will have gone for ever.
Finally there is the food problem. Hitler
is now the master of the continent of Eu-
rope, a continent which is faced with
starvation if the British blocade is not
one of the strong points of the Nazi faith
— Hitler and his friends have been at
great pains to assure of this on several
occasions, nevertheless it is doubtful
whether they will be willing to face an-
other winter of blocade.
Even if he were able to loot enough
supplies for his army and home popula-
tion the prospect of a hundred million in-
habitants of the vassel states driven to
desperation by hunger may not be one
that even the Gestapo will care to face.

The Kaiser in said to have given
his Zeppelins strict orders not to
bomb Buckingham Palace. That
Hitler evidently has no such scru-
ples is shown by last Wednesday’s
events, when The North Wing of
the Palace received a direct hit. The
King and Queen were unhurt. They
were saved not by their air-raid
shelter nor, as the liars of Berlin
and Zeesen will hasten to assure us
because they had hastily moved for
a safe area or were preparing to
leave for Canada. They were with
their subjects in the East End of
London, in the district which had
borne the brunt of the previous
day’s raids, IN THE FRONT LINE
OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN.
King George of Britain does not
make idle boasts about being “the
first soldier of his country” but by
deeds not words provides a shin-
ing example of courage and forti-
tude, an example which will be an
inspiration to millions of his sub-
jects.
