Bíóferð - Trip to the movies
Svo
var hún sýnd á kvikmyndahátíðinni í Toronto
í fyrra. Ég las bókina og mér fannst hún mjög
góð.
Hildur: Bókina?
Linda: Já, handritið byggist á spennusögu eftir Arnald
Indriðason. Þú veist hver hann er, er það ekki?
Hildur: Jú auðvitað. Ég hef lesið bækur eftir hann en ég
þekki ekki Mýrina. Hver leikur aðalhlutverkið?
Linda: Ingvar Sigurðsson leikur rannsóknarlögreglu-
manninn.
Hildur: Já, mér líst bara vel á þetta. Mig langar að fara.
Hvenær byrjar sýningin?
Linda: Hún byrjar klukkan átta.
Hildur: Hello!
Linda: Yes hello, this is Linda. Would you like to
come with me to the movies tonight?
Hildur: What would you like to see?
Linda: I would like to see a film called Jar City.
Hildur: Jar City? What kind of film is that?
Linda: It’s a mystery-thriller.
Hildur: And what is it about?
Linda: It is about a mysterious murder in Reykjavík.
An old man is murdered and the police don’t
know who the culprit is.
Hildur: Do you think this is an interesting movie?
Linda: Yes, it has gotten very good reviews. It was
selected best movie in Iceland 2006. It was
also screened at the Toronto Film Festival
last year. I read the book and I found it very
good.
Hildur: The book?
Linda: Yes, the manuscript is based on a mystery by
Arnaldur Indriðason. You know who he is,
don’t you?
Hildur: Yes of course. I have read books by him but
I don’t know Jar City. Who plays the main
role?
Linda: Ingvar Sigurðsson plays the detective.
Hildur: Well, this sounds good to me. I would like to
go. When does the show start?
Linda: It starts at eight o’clock.
Æfing/Exercise
Answers: a. að kaupa nammi, b. í nammi, c. að fara til Eng-
lands, d. í ný föt, e. í góðan mat, f. í steik, g. að sofa, h. að fara, i. að
syngja, j. að fara á skíði.
Complete the sentence buy using the words and phrases
below. Choose either the infinitive marker að, “to” or the
preposition í, “in”:
The verb að langa, “to want,” is impersonal. That means
that the verb form itself, langar, never changes. Instead,
the noun or pronoun which refers to the person who
wants something has to be put in accusative. If langar is
followed by another verb, the second verb is preceded by
the infintive marker að, “to.”
Mig LANGAR að borða.
“I want to eat.”
Þig LANGAR að fara til Íslands.
“You want to go to Iceland.”
Okkur LANGAR að lesa.
“We want to read.”
Ömmu LANGAR að læra íslensku.
“Amma wants to learn Icelandic.”
If the verb langar is followed by a noun, the noun is pre-
ceded by the preposition í, “in.”
Hann LANGAR í ís.
“He wants ice cream.”
Hana LANGAR í frí.
“She wants a vacation.”
