are scarcely to be found in the other plant associations of
the island.

This, then, concludes the survey of the plant
associations of ÆSey. They are neither numerous nor
varied, as is not to be expected where there is little differ-
ence in the conditions under which the various species
must live. The main difference lies in the varying degrees
of moisture in the soil, and I have tried to explain the
various Associations in accordance with that.
III. THE FLORA OF ÆÐEY
It seems to me appropriate to publish here a list of the
species of phanerogams and vascular cryptogams which
I found on Æðey. It is, naturally, not to be denied that
more species may be found there, as my stay was only
short, but they will scarcely be many. The names of the
plants in the flora list, as in this article on the whole, are
the same as in Ostenfeld and Gröntved: Flora of Iceland
and the Faroes. In order to save space I have omitted the
names of the families, but the order of the species is the
same as in the Flóra íslands.
1. G Botrychium lunaria (L.) Sw. Rather common.
2. H Cystopteris fragilis (L.) Bernh, Rare.
3. G Equisetum arvense L. Common.
4. G Equisetum pratense Ehrh. Rather common.
5. H Triglochin palustre L. Rather Common.
