Scotia, New Brunswick, and
Ontario, followed the same
eastern Canadian waterways and
fertile landscapes as the failed
Norse colonies of Vinland,
Markland, and Helluland.
Luckily, there is a renewed
interest, both historical and
archeological, in Montréal
to locate the “lost” site of
the Cartier-visited village of
Hochelaga. Maybe this new
analysis by Donald Wiedman
will convince Québec
historians to take a close look
at the possibility that the
Vikings “discovered” not only
Newfoundland, but much of
eastern Canada, all the way up
the river to Montréal.
