33I&I A different world, a very different world to the capital region is East Iceland. Stretching from the bird cliffs and the wind in Langanes peninsula in the North East, to the Jökulsárlón gla- cier lagoon in the South East, is East Iceland with all its natural wonders and great outdoors. There are the mountainous fjords and charming small villages, my favorites being Seydisfjördur and Borgarfjördur Eystri. You have Papey—the puffin island near djúpivogur—and the endless vastness of the highlands in the vicinity of mount Snaefell, the only place in Iceland where rein- deer roam free. East Iceland is a place to rediscover a different Iceland. By Páll Stefánsson. eAstern promises Eastern Iceland is a delight to visit. P ho to s th is p ag e b y P ál l S te fá ns so n.
