At first glance it’s a scene that hap-
pens all over America every single day
of the year.
A couple walk into a Volvo showroom,
excited at the prospect of ordering their
brand new car. They’ve been waiting for
this moment for what seems like forever
now and, of course, they’ve spent hours
deciding exactly which options to select.
Should they go for the alloy wheels?
Leather or cloth interior? Then, most
importantly, there’s the exterior colour
to think about: Midnight Blue or Classic
Red? That is the question...
As is the case for every Volvo cus-
tomer, they can customise their new car
to suit their own specific requirements,
but on this occasion they have one extra
decision to make and, boy, is it a tough
one. As this particular couple are taking
advantage of Volvo’s Tourist and
Diplomat Sales service, they are com-
bining the purchase of their new car with
a vacation in Europe. This means that,
along with the specifications of their
Volvo, they’ve also got to decide which
European country they want to have it
delivered to!
"Sweden is the most popular destina-
tion at the moment," explains Nancy
Nelle, Marketing and Merchandising
Manager of Volvo Cars of North America.
"Though I guess that’s not entirely sur-
prising as it means that people can pick
up their cars direct from the Volvo
Factory - and, believe me, while they’re
in Gothenburg, they are treated like VIPs.
We have a specially-built Factory
Delivery Centre there, where people can
pick up their cars. It’s in an exclusive set-
ting and, with extra facilities such as
showers and a relaxation area, I think it’s
safe to say that it’s a place that is truly
dedicated to customer satisfaction.”
