Be shopping a hobby or
more of a career, there is
plenty to keep you busy
here in Reykjavík. Fashion
enthusiasts can put
together their own Nordic
look with a few choice
items picked up in the
clothes and crafts stores
here. There are at least
three fine Icelandic fash-
ion design stores in the
Laugavegur area (see
ELM, Spakmannsspjarir,
and Skraddarinn –
Bespoke), as well as
numerous high-street
style stores (see Gallery
Sautján and Noi on
Laugavegur, and Noa
Noa, Oasis, DKNY and
Karen Millen in Kringlan).
And you’ll have no trou-
ble finding an Icelandic
knitwear store. Between
all these, and the rabbit’s
fur clogs in 38 threp (on
Laugavegur), you’ll have
no trouble putting togeth-
er an interesting little
ensemble as a reminder
of your stay in Iceland.
There is some rather love-
ly jewellery in Ófeigur on
Skólavördustígur and
there are rich pickings to
be had along this street in
the arts and crafts depart-
ment (see nearby Snegla
on Grettisgata for a great
selection).
