The Laugar health and spa center is located in the heart of Laugardalur Valley, Reykjavik’s main recreation and athletic park. In
addition to an excellent European style fitness center and bathhouse, guests have access to the Laugardalur swimming pools.

The Spa
One of the features of Laugar is its Spa, the only one of its kind in Iceland. It is designed on a European model, where focus is on
creating an aquatic haven to indulge both body and soul, a soothing environment that rejuvenates and invigorates in a uniquely
gentle way. Six different saunas and steam rooms are kept at varying temperatures, each with its own fragrance and theme: for
example you can experience birds singing and a rippling brook, and a starry sky and sunrise. Enjoy a whirlpool with blended sea
water, a special foot bath that rejuvenates tired feet, switch between hot and cold showers in special cubicles, or bathe is a six-yard-
wide waterfall designed by artist Sigurður Guðmundsson. Icelandic landscapes decorate the walls of the Spa’s relaxation room that
features a centrally located fireplace. Guests can sit in “Lazyboy” chairs and simply forget
the outside world. And then there is the Spa Restaurant, where you can enjoy refreshments

sphere. NordicaSpa offers a variety of treat-
ments to help you relax and feel refreshed.
You can choose from a wide range of mas-
sages and body and facial treatments where
high quality therapeutic body products are
used. In the spa area there are two jacuzzis,
where guests receive a head and shoulder
massage. The spa area also includes a re-
laxation pool, two aroma steam rooms and
an outdoor sauna.
The signature treatments at NordicaSpa in-
clude the Volcano treatment using Icelandic
geothermal mud. The session begins with
a massage application of very active geo-
thermal mud which is powerfully mag netic
for the body’s toxins and sur prising ly cool-
ing. A reflexology massage is given while
you relax lightly wrapped in the mud. After
a quick shower the therapy continues with a
deep tissue massage using acupressure to
relieve the body from stress and weariness.
A cup of cleansing tea in the end maximises
the effect of this therapy. The mud, oil and
tea used in this therapy is made from Icelan-
dic natural resources.
Another speciality at NordicaSpa is the Ice
and fire therapy that brings you to a state
of deep relaxation using heated smooth Ice-
landic lava rocks hand-picked from the fa-
mous Snæfellsnes glacier followed by cool
white marble stones. The massage provides
a number of therapeutic benefits such as an
increase of blood circulation and stimulation
of the body’s metabolism and at the same
time a decrease in pain, tension, inflamma-
tions or swelling.
The Butterfly therapy was especially de-
signed for NordicaSpa and is a deeply re-
laxing treatment using blends of essential
oils including Myrrh, Orange and Oriental
Rose that deeply hydrate, balance the body
and mind. Warm oil is poured onto the body
and then massaged with light, sweeping
movements into the skin. Parts of the body
are compressed with warm herbal packs
on areas that need healing. The treatment
continues with a tension releasing massage
for the spine and deep breathing that makes
you feel even more relaxed. This massage
is soothing and completely indulgent. After
the treatment you will enjoy your feeling of
lightness. It‘s so soft and silky you feel you
could fly!
